As our summers are gearing up, I want to take a brief moment to welcome you to St. Olaf and especially to the dance department. I always look forward to meeting our incoming students and watching your growth as you progress through our program.

I also want to let you know about some events that will be happening this year. You will soon get some information about Week One and your introduction to St. Olaf. There will be meeting times in the schedule to find out more about our program and our performing companies – Company dance (a modern-based company) and Veselica (our international company). Please plan to attend these. I think they will help answer a few questions you might have.

COMPANY DANCE

  • September 5th @ 3:30 pm in Dittmann Dance Studio #1 - Information meeting about Company dance Auditions
  • September 8th @ 3:30 pm in Dittmann Dance Studio #1 - Auditions for Company dance for juniors and seniors
  • September 9th @ 3:00 pm in Dittmann Dance Studio #1 - Auditions for Company dance for sophomores and first-year students (we will also look to award a first-year dance scholarship)

VESELICA

  • September 2nd @ 4:15 pm in Dittmann Dance Studio #1 - Information meeting about Veselica Auditions
  • September 4th @ 4:00 pm in Dittmann Dance Studio #1 -Auditions for Veselica

DANCE THEATRE EDUCATION LICENSURE

  • September 3rd @ 3:45 pm in Dittmann Dance Studio #3 - Information meeting about the dance-theatre education licensure program


BODY LAB

On Fridays, Sherry Saterstrom teaches a Body Lab in Dittmann studio #3–this is open to all students and requires no registration. Emphasis is on becoming more familiar with your body and working on changing ineffective ways of moving as well as correcting structural and alignment problems.

Also look for upcoming information on our annual opening picnic for the dance department.
