New Student Move-In Day, Saturday September 5, 2009

In an effort to ease the traffic congestion on New Student Move-In Day, Saturday, September 5, we will modify the normal traffic pattern and parking areas on this important day. It is vital to the success of the move-in process that students and parents enter the campus at the appropriate location and during their designated move-in time to minimize parking and traffic problems.

Designated move-in times by room number:
odd numbered rooms between 8:00 am and 9:30 am.
even numbered rooms between 9:30 am and 10:30 am.

Please enter the campus at the appropriate location:

For Hilleboe, Hoyme, Kittelsby, Larson, Mellby and Ytterboe halls:
From the East or West on Highway 19, enter the campus at the Highway 19 entrance and follow the move-in signs posted at the top of the hill.

For Ellingson, Kildahl, Mohn, Rand and Thorson halls:
From the West, follow Highway 19 East into Northfield. Turn left at Armstrong Road and follow Armstrong Road to Lincoln Street. Turn left onto Lincoln Street and follow Lincoln to St. Olaf Avenue. At the stop sign, turn left onto St. Olaf Avenue. At the entrance to the College, turn right and follow the move-in signs to your designated hall.

From the East, follow Highway 19 West from the junction of Highway 19 and Highway 3. Turn right at Armstrong Road and follow Armstrong Road to Lincoln Street. Turn left onto Lincoln Street and follow Lincoln to St. Olaf Avenue. At the stop sign, turn left on to St. Olaf Avenue. At the entrance to the College, turn right and follow the move-in signs to your designated hall.

After moving in:
Please move your vehicle away from the hall to designated long term parking lots to allow other students and parents access to their respective residence halls. Traffic coordinators will be on campus to assist you with parking. Yellow signs will also be posted on Highway 19, St. Olaf Avenue and on campus to direct you to your respective hall.

Overnight parking restriction:
In order to provide the maximum number of parking spaces for students and parents on Saturday, September 5, we will clear the upper part of campus of all vehicles Friday night/Saturday morning and may tow vehicles (if necessary). Therefore, if you plan to leave a vehicle on campus the night before (Friday, 9/4), please call 507-786-2972 and provide the Parking Office with your name, license plate number and a vehicle description. This office has 24 hour voice mail so you can call and leave the information. This procedure will hopefully prevent any move-in related vehicles from being inadvertently towed.

Your patience and understanding on this busy, but very special day is greatly appreciated. We hope you have an enjoyable move-in experience and please drive safely.
