Bookstore Website
The St. Olaf Bookstore maintains a web site that can be accessed directly at www.stolafbookstore.com.  The site features a most of the clothing, insignia gifts, music, faculty and alumni books, and textbooks that are available at the store, as well as general event, contact, and store hours information.  Gift cards may also be purchased online, and can be used to purchase any items in the store.  The bookstore website is a great way to order Ole gear and supplies before you arrive on campus!

Textbook Reservations
First-year students can purchase their textbooks after registration via the bookstore website and have them ready for pick-up prior to the start of classes.  Our “Big Package” program allows all students the convenience of ordering online while allowing them to avoid the inevitable long lines at the bookstore during the first few days of classes.

General Textbook Information
Textbooks and course materials are the most important tools of learning at St. Olaf, and they are the main focus of the bookstore.  Students should budget an average of $100-$200 per class for required books and general classroom supplies.  The St. Olaf Bookstore makes a special effort to acquire as many used textbooks as possible to save students money.  While this is not always possible due to new editions or textbook packaging, we do our utmost to find as many used books as we can.  Books for each class are usually on the shelves during the month before the term begins.  To be assured of having all books for a class, students should purchase books no later than the first day of classes.

Textbook Buyback
The bookstore offers students the opportunity to sell their textbooks back to the bookstore five times during the academic year.  If the books will be used again the following term at St. Olaf, students are offered 50% of the new book price.  If the books will not be used again, the textbook wholesaler sponsoring the buyback may choose to buy them for their own use at a reduced price.

General Reading Books
The St. Olaf Bookstore stocks a large selection of books for reference and leisure reading.  The General Books Department carries a wide variety of titles in categories such as fiction, reference, science and nature, humor, mystery, science fiction, history, current affairs, biography, art and photography, travel, cooking, religion, and children’s books among others.  Books by St. Olaf faculty and alumni are also on hand, and we specialize in Scandinavian fiction, non-fiction, and children’s works.  The bookstore regularly sponsors author signings and book events on campus that are open to the public.  We offer our Browser’s Dozen each month (twelve hand-selected titles at 25% off), a category-of-the-month (all titles in this subject are 20% off) and a monthly newsletter.  Any title that is still in print may be special ordered from the bookstore.
