Telephone Service for Student Housing
St. Olaf College provides a telephone in each residence hall room and each honor house. When you arrive on campus you will be able to call on-campus and local telephone numbers. You will also be able to receive incoming calls. You will not be able to place long distance calls until you obtain your seven-digit Authorization Code, or you may use a calling card to place long distance calls from any campus phone.
At the time you pick up your room key you will receive your Authorization Code. If you do not pick it up at that time, please come to the Telecommunications Office, which is located on the lower level of Buntrock Commons, room 52. Your Authorization Code must be used each time you place a long distance phone call. Please visit our website for more information at www.stolaf.edu/services/telecom.
Office Hours: The Telecommunications Office is open 8 am –5 pm, Monday – Friday.
Rates: Our long distance rates are 4¢/minute!!!! Any day, any time!! Call our office to check on International rates.
Please Note: Unauthorized use of another person’s authorization code and obscene or harassing telephone calls has penalties of a St. Olaf Telecommunications fine of $100 and possible disciplinary action.
Additional Items and Services Available From the Telecommunications Office:
Voice Mail: If you would like Voice Mail on your campus extension, stop by our office and sign up. There is no charge for this service.
Caller ID: If you would like caller ID at your campus extension, the cost is $6/semester or $10/year. Stop by our office to sign up.
Fax: Students may send or receive faxes in our office during business hours. Outgoing Fax charges are $1.25 for the first page and 50¢ for each additional page (Domestic); $2.75 for the first page and $1.00 for each additional page (International). Incoming Fax charges are $1.00 for the first page and 25¢ for each additional page.
Gift Certificates: Gift certificates are available in any amount. Please call our office to find out more at (507)786-3041 or (800)789-4920.
Accessories: Wall adapters, long cords, two-way adapters.
Additional Lines: If you would like an additional line for a Fax or modem, the cost is $20.00 per month and $45.00 for installation.
