  • Most transportation is sponsored by both Carleton & St. Olaf Student Activities Offices and Student Governments.

Local Transportation Options

Northfield Transit

  • Service to locations within Northfield city limits
  • Dial-A-Ride – Monday-Thursday, 8:30 am 4:30 pm; Stops based on request
  • Free tokens with St. Olaf student ID available at Buntrock Commons

Co-op Bus

  • Service to Mall of America, MSP Airport, & Crowne Plaza Hotel –downtown riverfront
  • Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays
  • Reservations and tickets are required for all riders and should be made 24 hours in advance at the Buntrock Information Desk
  • $5 for a one-way ticket


Northfield Connection

  • Service to locations in Northfield
  • Tuesday & Thursday evenings, 5:00– 8:00 pm; Sunday 1:00 – 4:00 pm
  • Scheduled stops: St. Olaf, Carleton, Bridge Square, Heritage Square, and Cub/Target
  • Free with St. Olaf student ID (no reservation required)

Love Bus

  • Friday & Saturday evenings, 6:30 pm – 10:45 pm
  • Scheduled stops: St. Olaf, Carleton, Bridge Square, Heritage Square, & Target/Cub
  • Free with St. Olaf student ID (no reservation required)

The Movie Bus

  • A minimal fee includes transportation to and from the Lakeville 21 Theatre, in Lakeville, plus a discount on the movie ticket
  • Saturday evenings only
  • Sign up in the Office of Student Activities (Buntrock 107) prior to Friday, 4:00 pm

Safe Ride

  • Public Safety sponsored ride service providing safe late-night escort to students
  • Operated entirely by students, available daily during the academic year
  • 7:00 pm to 1:00 am
  • Rides arranged by calling x 3666

  • For students needing or offering non-local rides throughout the year

Getting to the Airport

Traveling to the airports in the Twin Cities takes approximately 45 minutes when weather and road conditions are good
  • Carriers operating in the Twin Cities are located at the MSP International (Lindbergh) terminal as well as the HHH Charter (Humphrey) terminal

  • When planning your air travel, consult the Airport-Only Break Shuttle and Co-op Bus schedules first to ensure economical travel from St. Olaf to the airport and back
  • The newest carrier in the twin cities is Southwest Airlines, at the Humphrey terminal
  • The MSP Intl (Lindbergh) and HHH Charter (Humphrey) terminals are minutes apart and are connected by (free) Light Rail service
