Divinity Degree Opportunities at Yale Institute of Sacred Music

*MDIV, MAR, and STM Degree Opportunities at Yale ISM*

The Yale Institute of Sacred Music, an interdisciplinary graduate center within Yale University, educates leaders who foster, explore, and study engagement with the sacred through music, worship, and the arts in Christian communities, diverse religious traditions, and public life.

I write today especially to make you aware of the programs the Institute offers in conjunction with Yale Divinity School, and I invite you to attend an upcoming information session or table...

Information Table Thursday, November 1st 11:00-2 p.m., Buntrock Commons Stav Hall

Information Session Thursday, November 1st 7-8 p.m., Christiansen Hall of Music 239

Institute students pursue these degrees from Yale Divinity School:

Master of Divinity Master of Arts in Religion Master of Sacred Theology

We are especially seeking students interested in graduate study in the areas of:

Liturgical studies (including post-doctoral fellowships)

Religion and the Arts

Religion and Literature Religion and Visual Arts (art, architecture, and material culture) Religion and Music

Pastoral ministry (with an emphasis in music, worship, and the arts)

Musical skills are not a prerequisite (though always an asset) at the Institute; rather, we seek students who will excel in the study of one of our three primary areas (music, worship, or arts) and wish to pursue this study in an interdisciplinary environment. Students take a full array of courses in theological studies; this curriculum is supplemented by cutting-edge instruction in our areas. All Institute students receive full tuition scholarships, and qualified students receive generous merit awards ($3,750-$12,000).

The application deadline for our divinity tracks is February 1. Please browse the websites of both the Institute and the Yale Divinity School for further information. If you should have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the ISM Admissions Office at (203) 432-9753 or for more information.
