A lecture by Timothy Holtz '86, MD, MPH; Director, HIV/STD Research Program, Thailand Ministry of Public Health - US CDC Collaboration, Thailand. Thirty years into the HIV epidemic, we still have astronomical rates of infection among some most-at-risk populations/social groups. In Thailand, men who have sex with men and injection drugs users continue to be disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS, with infection rates over 25%. The seminar will discuss the HIV epidemic in Asia among vulnerable groups, and the search for new methods to prevent high-risk transmission. This event is part of the 2013 Social Science Conference, "Health and Inequality: Social Determinants of Health".
