On Wednesday, February 27, you have the exciting opportunity to attend St. Olaf's Day at the Capitol. We'll be going to St. Paul to meet with legislators from across the state and talk with them about the importance of the Minnesota State Grant program. The event is free to students, and includes transportation, lunch, and lessons on lobbying from professionals. Register for the event by February 24.
The State of Minnesota currently gives around $2 million in financial aid to St. Olaf students, allocating funds that don't need to be repaid, enabling students to go to school. Statewide, the program assists over 85,000 students every year, making it possible for students to attend college.
This year is one of the most important yet. Governor Dayton has proposed to expand funding for the program by nearly $80 million, an increase that would reach tens of thousands more students that need help to make ends meet. This important issue needs your help. Register now to make a difference.
We'll leave in the morning of the 27th, and get back in the afternoon. It will be an exciting day where you get to interact first-hand with the engine of democracy that is our state legislature. Join us in making sure this pressing issue gets the respect and attention that it deserves. It truly makes a difference in students' lives.
