Rochester Oles are putting a new spin on an old event. They've decided to read a book set in the Santa Ynez wine country, and meet for the discussion at a local area winery!
The book they chose, "Sideways," is a tale of two friends, Jack and Miles, taking a last outing together as single men to immerse themselves in their shared past before Jack marries. Both have reasons to be there: for Jack the tasting tour is Seven Days to D-Day, his last taste of freedom. For Miles, recently divorced and uncertain where his life is heading, this is a chance to re-evaluate, to process his past and find a way to move toward his future.
Amidst the wine tastings, with many tasty details about the wines, this story provides funny and thought-provoking insight into men and women and the stubborn resilience of human relationships.
We will gather at Four Daughters Vineyard & Winery, 78757 State Hwy 16, Spring Valley, from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. With great wines and food, an interesting menu, and an open inviting atmosphere, this should be a truly memorable book club gathering!
This is a pay-on-your-own event. We ask that you register, just so we can determine what will be needed to provide for the group’s size. You may do so by contacting Sheri Eichhorn in the Alumni and Parent Relations Office at email@example.com or 888-865-6537.
If attendees would like to carpool down to Spring Valley from Rochester, please contact local volunteer Stefanie Meunier ’99 at firstname.lastname@example.org or 507-206-0729. We'll plan to meet in the Target South parking lot around 10:50 a.m.
