Sacred Opera: Rappresentatione di anima, e di corpo (1600) Guest artists with St. Olaf Early Music Singers & Collegium Musicum

A performance of Emilio de' Cavalieri's sacred opera, Il Rappresentativo di anima, e di corpo (Drama of the Body and the Soul). This sacred opera was performed first in Rome in 1600 and is considered the oldest surviving operatic work. This presentation is a fully-staged version, using Cavalieri's own directions as a guide. Supertitles in English will be provided.
