Immigration 101: Minnesota's new immigration laws and what they mean for Northfield students, families and employers.
Short presentations by an expert panel followed by plenty of time for audience questions and discussion.
John Keller, Executive Director of Immigration Law Center, University of Minnesota Law School, named Attorney of the Year 2007 by Minnesota Lawyer, and received the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits 2007 Advocacy Award on behalf of work he led in response to immigration raids in 2006.
Ben Casper, Director of the Center for New Americans, Visiting Associate Clinical Prof, University of Minnesota Law School, with 15 years of litigation experience with the Board of Immigration Appeals, U.S. District Courts, the U.S Courts of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Beth Berry, outgoing Coordinator for the TORCH (Tackling Obstacles and Raising College Hopes) Program in Northfield, MN
Juve Meza, One of the founders of Navigate MN, a leadership development program for immigrant young adults, now working for Minneapolis Public Schools.
We are also expecting a representative of the Northfield Police Department.
A collaboration of Carleton College, St Olaf College, and the Northfield TORCH Program in celebration of Constitution Day 2013.
