The METAMORPHOMARATHON is an all-day, out-loud reading of Ovid's Metamorphoses, antiquity's most influential epic and its greatest collection of myths. In conjunction with Classics 129 (The Neverending Myth: Ovid's Metamorphoses), we'll be performing the 15 books of Ovid's epic in 15 different English poetic translations. All are welcome to come for any length of time, to listen, and to take part in the performance; with nearly 12,000 lines of text and hundreds of different myths, there's something for everyone. A few extra commemorative and eye-catching t-shirts will be available for purchase ($16).

This year's event will begin at 9 a.m. in the Buntrock Commons Crossroads. Late in the afternoon, we'll adjourn to the Eastern Lantern (2nd floor) of Tomson Hall, where we'll read until the end of book 15, probably at some point between 11 p.m. and midnight.
