The mission of St. Olaf College is that "St. Olaf, a four year college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, provides an education committed to the liberal arts, rooted in the Christian Gospel, and incoporating a global perspective ... it offers a distinctive environment that integrates teaching, scholarship, creative activity, and opportunities for encounter with the Christian Gospel and God's call to faith."
The purpose of Church Relations is to build and encourage relationships between the college and the Church that will strengthen both in our common areas of mission.

Janet Kringen Thompson '70 is the Associate Vice President for Advancement and College Relations, a position she assumed in the fall of 2007. Prior to that, she served the college as the Director of Church Relations and the Director of Alumni and Parent Relations. Janet worked for the ELCA Youth Gathering from 1987-1997. Her current volunteer positions include serving on the Board of Trustees for Augsburg Fortress Publishing, and co-chairing Crossing Bridges, the Mission Appeal for the Saint Paul Area Synod. |
