Previous Grant Recipients

This is a sample of some of the previous recipients of grants from The Philip N. Knutson Endowment:

  1. Lutheran Campus Ministry of Northern Michigan University:  Holding to the Promise: Sexual Diversity in the Lutheran Church.  In collaboration with the Sexuality Task Force of the Northern Great Lakes Synod, ELCA, the project involves training a four-member student team to work with congregations in rural northern Michigan to facilitate conversation and reflection on issues of sexuality diversity.   2. Lutherans Concerned/North America: Reconciling in Christ Core Team Training Conferences.  Moving from a congregation-based model to a regional model, LC/NA is training leaders and members to build teams to promote actively the RIC program in their synod and with prospective RIC churches, mentoring those congregations in the process. (2004)
  3. Bethany Lutheran Church, Minneapolis:  The Naming Project Summer Camp.  A four-day intensive outdoor experience for youth between the ages of 12-17 who are working on reconciling their spirituality and their sexuality. (2004)
  4. Lutheran Campus Ministry:  We Care for the Future.  A conference bringing together present and past members of the national staff team for Lutheran Campus Ministry to review the church's work on college and university campuses and the contributions LCM has made to the larger church. (2003)
  5. Lutheran Campus Ministry, University of Minnesota: THIS Obedience.  Production of a video that explores a series of historic events within the Christian faith through the eyes of the lesbian in the center of it all.  The video shows the personal effect of the public debate over full-inclusion of LGBT individuals.   (2002)
  6. St. Olaf College: Sexuality, Spirituality and the Church.  A conference for students and others to openly and safely discuss sexuality, particularly in the context of our lives within the Church.  The goals included: raising consciousness, providing information, educating and inspiring. (2002)
