About the Curator

Gordon Marino received his BA degree from Columbia University, his MA in philosophy from University of Pennsylvania, and his PhD from the University of Chicago, Committee on Social Thought. He is Professor of Philosophy, Boldt Distinguished Professor in the Humanities, and Curator of the Howard V. and Edna H. Hong Kierkegaard Library at St. Olaf College.
Marino is the author of Kierkegaard in the Present Age (Marquette University Press, 2001). He co-edited The Cambridge Companion to Kierkegaard (1997) and is the editor of the Modern Library edition of the Basic Works of the Existentialists (Random House, 2004). He has also co-edited two volumes of papers originally presented at International Kierkegaard Conferences hosted by the Library: Anthropology and Authority: Essays on Søren Kierkegaard (Rodopi, 2001) and Kierkegaard and the Word(s) (C. A. Reitzel, 2003). His essays have appeared in national periodicals including The Atlantic Monthly, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal. He is also a regular contributor to Christian Century, Commonweal, and other publications.
