History
The Søren Kierkegaard Newsletter was founded by Robert L. Perkins.   Its first issue, titled "Perkins' Personal Kierkegaard News Letter," opened with the following sentence: "The undersigned undertakes to report to the wider Kierkegaard circle and some others the events of the first session held at Washington D. C., on December 28, 1978."   Professor Perkins was referring to the inaugural meeting of the Søren Kierkegaard Society of the United States.

In 1981, Professor Perkins gave his fifth issue a new title: "Søren Kierkegaard Society Newsletter."

In October 1982, Louis Pojman published his first issue as editor (No. 8); he gave the newsletter its present name, "Søren Kierkegaard Newsletter."   Over the next seven years, Prof. Pojman edited twelve issues, experimenting with a variety of formats.

In 1989, the Howard V. and Edna H. Hong Kierkegaard Library at St. Olaf College began publishing the newsletter, with curator C. Stephen Evans serving as editor.   Since Professor Evans' first issue, No. 20, the physical layout of the newsletter has remained largely the same.

In 1995, Professor Evans invited Gordon D. Marino to succeed him as Editor.   Under Professor Marino's direction, the newsletter remains an independent publication.   Issues come out twice a year, and include news of the Library and Kierkegaard organizations world-wide, articles on subjects of interest to Kierkegaard studies, and book reviews of recent Kierkegaard-related publications.
