SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT -- AUGUST 21, 2005
To all readers, friends, and supporters of the International Kierkegaard Newsletter (IKN):
For over twenty-five years, Julia Watkin worked tirelessly to offer the community of Kierkegaard researchers a comprehensive and up-to-date record of lectures, conferences, seminars, publications, and other developments in our field. Shortly before her passing in early 2005, Julia arranged to transfer the online version of her Newsletter here, to the Hong Kierkegaard Library website. It was Julia's wish that publication of the IKN continue under the Library's auspices.
Thanks to the efforts of Robert Perkins and Sylvia Walsh, Julia's literary executors, and of Gordon Marino, director of the Hong Kierkegaard Library, publication of the International Kierkegaard Newsletter will resume in 2006 under new editorship. Until that time, I am honored to serve as the IKN's Acting Editor. In the coming months, I will oversee completion of the 2005 issue of the IKN, which Julia had begun compiling in the months preceding her death.
To complete Julia's 2005 Newsletter, I will need your help. If you have news to report, publications, seminars, or lectures to advertise, or have reminiscences of Julia you wish to share, please write to me at the International Kierkegaard Newsletter's new email address, IKNwatkin@gmail.com.
Your help is greatly appreciated. Julia is irreplaceable: it will take the collaboration of our entire community to continue her work. Yet we owe it to Julia to do all we can. The cohesion, collegiality, and strength of our scholarly community today is itself in no small part a product of Julia's selfless labor.
I look forward to hearing from all of you.
