Academic Computing Policy Board
ACPB Meeting Minutes November 18, 2005
Present: Roberta Lembke, Gary Miessler, Meg Ojala, Barbara Reed
Guests: Arnie Ostebee
The board met with Arnie to get information on two documents: Privacy of Employee Electronic Files and Intellectual Property Ownership.
According to Arnie, Privacy of Employee Electronic Files is the law. Intellectual Property Ownership is a college policy.
The college policy allows faculty to own copyrights of their work unless “extraordinary resources of the College are used in the creation of a work.”
Extraordinary resources of the College do not include sabbatical pay. The College will determine on an individual basis whether extraordinary resources of the College have been used in the creation of a work.
The board will work on ways to inform the faculty about these documents and field questions that arise.
The board will also plan a workshop on copyright laws and appropriate use of images, text, music etc.
Our next meeting will be on November 30 to review technology requests.
Respectfully submitted,
Meg Ojala
