CEPC Minutes 02/22/06

Members present:  C. Anderson, M. Cisar, J. Dietz, A. Hanson, M.S. Lovett, C. Swain

The meeting was called to order by J. Dietz at 3:20 p.m.

  1. Approval of Minutes. The minutes of the 02/08/06 meeting were approved with minor revisions. The minutes of the 02/15/06 meeting were approved as is.
  2. Announcement . J. Dietz discussed the results of departments’ meeting regarding NST. She will talk further with Dave Van Wylen to discuss how the working group should proceed.
  3. Special Studies Subcommittee . A. Hanson presented the new course proposals for Summer 2006 and Interim 2007. CEPC approved the course (the full list with approved descriptions is included as a separate document with these minutes).

  4. Course Name Change. 95-263 will change it’s title from Statistical Problem Solving to Statistics for Economics.
  5. Course 64-154. Jason Engbrecht, Physics, attended the meeting to discuss the description of 64-154 Origins of Nuclear Weapons. Because this will move from an interim to a semester class, it will need to appear on a green sheet. He will complete the appropriate forms.
  6. Calendar Discussion. M. Cisar presented drafts of the Calendars for 2007-2008 and 2008-2009. The committee discussed these preliminary schedules, specifically addressing the CEPC guidelines, Week One, Christmas Fest, Interim and Spring breaks, exam periods, and the appropriate procedure for approving the calendars. M. Cisar will continue to talk to interested parties and present additional information to the committee for further discussion.
