Minutes of the 04/05/06 CEPC Meeting

Members present:  C. Anderson, J. Beld, M. Cisar, J. Dietz, A. Hanson, T. Hauger, M.S. Lovett, K. Thomforde, C. Swain

The meeting was called to order by J. Dietz at 3:28 p.m.

  1. Approval of Minutes. The minutes of the 03/22/06 meeting were approved.
  2. Announcements.

    NST . J. Dietz gave an update on NST, acknowledging that the letter and proposed agreement had been sent to FNSM.

    Deadlines. J. Dietz talked about CEPC’s need to set deadlines for all course proposals. C. Swain will verify the deadlines that appear on the Dean of College page to come up with a set schedule. We also discussed the possibility of finding a place to post “pending” classes.

  3. Special Studies Subcommittee . A. Hanson presented the new course proposals. CEPC approved Dance 215: Power Play. This course will be attached to CEPC 05/06-8 for the April 6, 2006 Faculty Meeting.

    CEPC also approved the following courses for Summer 2006 and Interim 2007. (The approved descriptions are included as a separate document with these minutes).

    Summer 2006

    EDUC 347: Teaching ESL K-12

    EDUC 348: Assessment of ESL K-12

    Interim 2007

    ART 240: Creating Visual Spectacle

  4. Philosophy Catalog Description. CEPC approved the changes submitted by Philosophy.

  5. Registrar’s Business. M. Cisar brought the following business to CEPC.

Course Scheduling Guidelines. After a lengthy discussion, CEPC approved the three recommendations in the Update Existing CEPC Guidelines document (This document is included as a separate document with these minutes).

Post-deadline Changes in Registration (Late Drop/Add) . CEPC had a preliminary discussion of policies and practices regarding post-deadline petitions. The meeting adjourned at 4:20 p.m.
