China Studies Concentration
Intended Learning Outcomes
Students will demonstrate:
- language proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing at the level of Intermediate-Mid to Intermediate-High as defined by ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Language).
- meta-cognitive strategies, including listening/reading for specific purposes; use of background information to guess the content; paraphrasing; obtaining information for self-study; learning how to keep learning Chinese outside the classroom.
- inter-cultural competence, including an ability to analyze and describe fundamental topics in Chinese culture, history, and society, and comprehension and critical awareness of more subtle cultural nuances.
