Minute of the April 24, 2007 GEC Meeting
GEC members present: Sherry Saterstrom (chair, FA), Karl Fink (HUM), Elizabeth Leer (SSF), Anne Sabo (IGS), Kathy Shea (NSM), Solveig Zempel (Associate Dean, IGS), Erica Jaastad (student).
The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m.
Minutes from April 3 were approved.
GE Outcomes discussion: Beginning in the fall of 2007, course proposals for GE credit should attend to student outcomes as well as the GE guidelines. We need to demonstrate a strong link between our courses, assessment, and institutional decision-making.
The Committee considered the following re-certification proposals and took the indicated action:
Asian Studies
Action: Approved for ALS-A and ALS-L
ARMS
Action: Approved for HWC
Theatre
Action: Approved for HWC
The Committee considered the following course proposal and took the indicated action:
Statistics 285: Global Heath: Biostatistics
Action: Approved for ORC
Members of GEC continuing to serve next year (on the new curriculum committee) will meet with CEPC and others on the new committee in May (the 9 th, 15 th, or 16 th).
Next GEC meeting is Tuesday, May 1.
