Minutes of the May 7, 2007 GEC Meeting
GEC members present: Sherry Saterstrom (Chair, FA), Karl Fink (HUM), Elizabeth Leer (SSF), Anne Sabo (IGS), Kathy Shea (NSM), Solveig Zempel (Associate Dean, IGS), Kathy Granquist (Registrar’s Office, ex-officio),
The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m.
Minutes from May 1 were approved with corrections.
The committee considered the following re-certification proposals and took the indicated action.
Art 150, 254, and 263
Action: approved for HWC
American Conversations 101 and 102
Action: approved for HWC
There was an open discussion on ways of streamlining the work of the GE Committee as presently charged with anticipation of its new role within the CEPC structure.
There was continued discussion with Jo Beld on the possibility that assessment data would follow from academic decision-making presently in place at St. Olaf College, including, for example, from steps taken to re-certify GE courses, from department new course proposals, and from the emerging discussions on course outcomes.
Sherry Saterstrom was thanked for her work this year as chair.
This was the final meeting of the GEC for the year and forever as presently constituted and charged.
