Minutes of the November 30, 2006 GEC Meeting
GEC members present: Sherry Saterstrom (chair, FA), Karl Fink (HUM), Anne Sabo (IGS), Elizabeth Leer (SSF) Kathy Shea (NSM), Solveig Zempel (ex officio, IGS), Maren Anderson (student), Kathy Granquist (ex-officio, Registrar).
The meeting was called to order at 4:15 p.m.
Minutes from the November 16 meeting were approved as written.
Mary Cisar, Registrar, visited with the committee about the timetable for recertification, drawing attention to proposed changes in the MCS attributes and the need to conclude this discussion and re-certification process by April 30, so that any new graduation requirements can be entered into the on-line catalog coming out next summer, and so that all updated and certified GE attributes can be entered into the Class and Lab Schedule for the Fall Term, 2007.
The Committee considered the following re-certification proposals and took the indicated action.
Russian Language and Area Studies
Action: Courses approved for ALS-A, ALS-L
Environmental Studies
Action: Courses approved for SED, IST and SED-IST
Psychology
Action: Courses approved for SED, IST and SED-IST. Psychology 125, “Principles of Psychology,” was tabled pending further information.
The next meeting will be Thursday, December 7, 2006, at 4:15 p.m.
