Modification of Faculty Handbook – 3.IV.B.5

At the Faculty Meeting on April 6, RPC will move to resubmit to the President a motion (RPC 03/04-10) already passed by the faculty at the May, 2003 Faculty Meeting.

RATIONALE FOR THE RESUBMISSION :

  1. This motion was passed by a majority vote of the faculty. Since then, the procedure for faculty approval has changed to a requirement of at least 60% of those attending a meeting at which a quorum is present. Since the tally of the vote from the May, 2003 was not recorded, a new vote is necessary.
  2. The director of ARP has been attending CEPC meetings on a regular basis since May, 2003. Being non-voting position on the committee, there is no concern regarding decisions by CEPC since that time.
  3. The failure to be approved by the Board in 2003 is believed to be a bureaucratic oversight.
