Summer Music Camp Classes

You will request classes when you register by ranking your top five selections. Most campers will be enrolled in their first two choices but this will happen on a first-come basis so register early to get your top choices. Class enrollment will also be affected by possible conflicts with the meeting time(s) of your major ensemble(s).trombone

Ear Training: An introduction to every musician's most important skill: listening. Explore ways to improve your ear and "find the right note." Instruction includes group singing, dictation and lecture-demonstration.

Music Theory: A valuable introduction to what's behind the notes on the page, this class will benefit vocalists and instrumentalists alike.

Chamber Music: Chamber music includes wind, brass and strings/piano groupings. The class instrumentation varies depending on registration.

Conducting Basics: What is going through the minds of conductors when they are conducting? This class will give you personal insights that may help you to understand the art of conducting -- and your conductor! Faculty will demonstrate beat patterns and teach you how to prepare for your next conducting assignment.
