Making it in the Arts is a one-day conference that provides a forum for cross-disciplinary discussions on issues facing all artists whether performing, visual or literary. This day-long event brings over nationally-recognized arts professionals (many of whom are St. Olaf alumni) to discuss pertinent topics and issues surrounding innovation in the arts. Panel topics include how to start an arts organization, arts marketing and management, as well as afternoon question and answer sessions with speakers.

Keynote

The keynote speaker Philip Brunelle, is the founder and artistic director of VocalEssence, a Twin Cities based choral group. Other speakers include members of diverse art fields, such as dance, visual art, literature, and theatre.

Brunelle was given an honorary doctorate from St. Olaf College and maintains a close association with the college.

“Young people from all fields need to understand something about entrepreneurship; it’s not a topic that’s taught in the classroom. Developing something comes with risk,”
        -Philip Brunelle
