It is in no way all-inclusive, given the length of the semester; however, we will study representative works from major periods, including architecture, painting, sculpture, calligraphy and decorative arts. An emphasis will be placed on understanding the cultural, political, and/or religious significance of the works in addition to the styles and methods employed in their creation. No previous knowledge of art history or India and Southeast Asia is required.
