The Women's Studies
senior capstone seminar focuses on non-Western and cross-cultural
feminist perspectives, both within the United States and internationally.
Through readings, guest speakers and independent research,
we will study various approaches to feminist methodology, investigate
arguments for alternative feminist theories and closely examine
case studies of non-Western gender analysis and feminist
views. Our
readings and discussions will be vigorously interdisciplinary,
drawing on knowledge you have gained from your Women's Studies
courses
within
the natural sciences, social sciences and humanities. In
addition, because this
seminar marks the conclusion of your Women's Studies major
or concentration at St. Olaf College, this course asks
you to examine
your learning and development within the scholarship of feminist
analysis and construct an analytical, reflective portfolio of
your intellectual and personal growth in this field.
