The Kabukiza Theatre is a famous Kabuki Theatre in Japan. This theatre first opened its doors in 1889. The Theatre was destroyed by fire in 1921 and was being rebuilt when it was destroyed by fire in 1923. It was again rebuilt in 1924 by Okada Shinichiro. It was bombed in 1945 leaving only the outer walls. It was again rebuilt and reopened in 1951. It is built from Steel reinforced concrete and contains influences from the Edo period, the same period in which Kabuki was introduced. The influences are apparent in its Chinese gables and roof. |
