Monet was quite familiar with Hiroshige's work and may well have been influenced by this or other Japanese prints in creating his color scheme and unusual perspective (Monet and Japan 21).

"Wright in his study-bedroom at Taliesin on his eighty-sixth birthday in 1953 with Hiroshige prints from the Kisokaido series..." (Meech 19).
