Professor Merritt completed a B.A. in English at Zhejiang University and a Masters in Second Language Teaching at Utah State University. Before coming to St. Olaf in 2006 to teach Beginning Chinese, she taught in the Chinese program at Trinity University, Texas. Besides her expertise in teaching language, she has experience in teaching Chinese online.
