After completing a B.A. (Japanese, English literature, Plan II Honors Program) at The University of Texas at Austin, William Bridges received a Ph.D. in Japanese literature from Princeton University. His teaching interests include Japanese language, modern and classical literature and popular culture. His research considers questions at the intersection of race and literature, Japanese or otherwise. He is also a translator of modern Japanese fiction.
