Biology in South India
In August 2011, ten biology majors boarded a plane and traveled to South India for a semester long service/learning experience.  They learned about India and Indian life and each did 2 research projects.  Come hear about their experiences!

Peruvian Medical Experience and Tropical Ecology in Costa Rica
In the interim service/learning course, Peruvian Medical Experience, students traveled to Cuzco, Peru under the direction of Ted Johnson and several health professionals.  They assessed patient needs in a public hospital, a homeless shelter, orphanages, and a small village.  At the same time, 18 students went to Costa Rica in an intensive field-oriented course under the direction of Kathy Shea.  They explored lowland rain forest, montane forest, dry forest, and coastal and agricultural ecosystems through projects and field trips.  Attend this seminar and get a glimpse of two off-campus biology interim courses.

Desert Biology and Research in Electron Microscopy
Class in the desert? Yeah sure, you betcha!  Students in the Desert Biology interim course traveled on extended field trips to desert locations in Arizona and adjacent states under the direction of Steve Freedberg, examining interrelationships of desert plants and animals.  Meanwhile, another group of students spent a portion of their interim at the Boulder Laboratory for 3-D electron microscopy of cells at the University of Colorado.  This 300-level interim course was led by Eric Cole and Erica Zweifel.
