Introduction
As of 1999, new fused benzodiazepine alkaloids were isolated from a fungus Aspergillus ochraceus. Circumdatin F and C are prototypical members, while others
such as circumdatin D and E have an additional tetrahydropyrrole. Similar alkaloids have shown potent cholecystokinin antagonism, inhibitory effects against substance P
at the guinea pig, rat and human neurokinin NK1 receptors, and potential antiinsectan activity. Their objective was to obtain Circumdatin F and C.
