Test Guidelines
The questions on this test are about topics covered by most high school
and college first year chemistry courses. All questions are multiple
choice. The rules for the test are the following:
-
You may take as much time as you wish to take this test. Our experience
is that you will need between 30 minutes and 2 hours to finish.
-
The use of a calculator is allowed but may not be necessary.
-
You may use a pencil and paper for calculations.
-
This is a closed-book test. No other texts or outside help may be
used.
-
A few questions will require the use of a periodic table. This table will
be provided for you as a
web link.
You may not have taken a test like this before where you're on your honor
to follow the rules. As a St. Olaf student, you can be proud of the
honor
system. It is our responsibility to keep this system working and
effective. The honor system is based on the following expectations:
-
All tests, quizzes and examinations of any kind are taken under the honor
system. On most occasions, no professor is present during testing periods.
It is therefore the responsibility of each student and his/her classmates
to ensure the use of proper test etiquette.
-
The honor system is considered violated when information which results
in or could result in an unfair advantage for one or more students is given
or received before, during or after a test.
