Application for participation in the Summer Institute
for Teaching and Technology
PROPOSALS: Proposals must include:
- Name.
- Department.
- No more than 2 pages explaining your interest in participating
in the Institute, and describing how you expect to use what you
learn during the workshop in a course you will teach next year.
What do you expect technology to allow you to do, or to do better,
in your classes? If you are currently using any instructional
technologies, please indicate what these are, and how you are
using them.
PROPOSAL DUE DATE: Tuesday, April 13, 2004. Please

We ecourage electronic submission.
SELECTION PROCESS: Participants will be selected on the basis of their proposals and to ensure a mix of disciplinary interests.
STIPENDS: Faculty will receive a stipend of $450 for participation in the workshop.
SUPPORT SERVICES: Participants will be eligible for enhanced support from IIT for 9 months following the workshop. Enhanced support will include:
- Student assistance throughout the summer of 2004 (scheduled
by appointment.)
- Priority scheduling of support for the participants' projects.
REQUIREMENTS:
- All participants are expected to attend all sessions.
- All participants will be required to write a short (2-3 page)
report at the end of the first semester following completion of
the Institute. Reports should outline how participants have sought
to introduce the new instructional technologies learned during
the week into their own
teaching. This information may be used for an IIT Newsletter article, and will form part of our annual report to the Bush Foundation.
- On the last day of the workshop, all participants will give a presentation on the project each has developed during the week. Additionally, all participants are expected to be available to give a presentation at a CILA event, within 18 months of completing the workshop.
