Mary Sidney Herbert's Literary Legacy
The Center for Innovation in the Liberal Arts and the Center for Integrative Studies are pleased to announce the recipients of "Magnus the Good" Awards for 2005. These awards, funded by an endowment established by friends of the St. Olaf Paracollege, seek to encourage undergraduate research in student-faculty collaborations, and to stimulate the intellectual curiosity of St. Olaf students and faculty.
From a field of splendid proposals, the selection committee this year made awards to three pairs of recipients.
Student April Graves and Professors Eric Cole (biology) and Nicole Hoft-London (Math) received an award to support their project "Life on the Edge! Two studies explore life histories of marine creatures in extreme habitats."
Chris Schommer '06 and Professor Patrick Kelley (Art and Art History) received an award to support their project "Listening In: Digital Inter(personal)activity."
And Nancy Simpson '06 and Professor Mary Trull (English) received an award to support their project "Mary Sidney Herbert's Literary Legacy."
Please join me in congratulating them, and watch for public
presentations of the fruits of these projects during the academic year
2005-06.
A call for proposals for the 2006 awards will be announced next fall.
