Germany recovered from two devastating world wars to become the economic powerhouse of Europe. Somalia is plagued by violence and conflict, and has lacked a functioning government since the outbreak of civil war in 1991, almost 20 years.

Why are some countries and areas of the world stable and secure, while others are not?

My International Studies major examines this question using the methods and perspectives of many disciplines, including political science, economics, history, sociology, and anthropology.
