As part of my Senior Project, I led a committee to organize a conference that drew together the college community over the sharing of inspiring and motivating ideas regarding social change. (see below)
The proposed major will incorporate classes from a variety of subject areas including sociology, anthropology, education, economics and management as well as incorporate a variety of internships to develop a major that looks at the dynamics of community development and how innovation plays a role in creating positive social change.  In order to gain a better understanding of this topic, I believe it is important to study a society from all levels starting from the individuals and the families, through to the social ideals and infrastructure. It will also be essential to engage in studies about the social inequities of race, gender, religion, age, and socioeconomic class as these are often at the roots of social disparities.
