Though my initial web portfolio proposal called for compiling information on organizations only located in Minnesota, I have expand beyond that to include country-specific information and policy work.

Latin America (Peru)

• The Pan American Health Organization is a branch of the World Health Organization that specifically targets health care issues in the Americas.
• The group Partners in Health in conjunction with their organization Socios En Salud targets HIV/AIDS prevention and multi-drug resistant tuberculosis.

Asia-Pacific (Thailand)

• The World Health Organization provides a broad profile of the Thai health care system.
• A brief look at Thai culture from Thai perspective.

Cross-Cultural Medicine

• Minneapolis' Hennepin County Medical center has established culturally-specific health care centers. 95% of the patients seen by the physician I interviewed at Family Medical Center are Hmong.
• Smiley's Clinic is a similar concept. A majority of their patients are Somali.
• And American Translation Association (ATA) provides education on cross-cultural medicine in training.
• The Cross Cultural Health Program in Seattle does excellent work with Seattle's diverse population.
• The Minnesota Daily ran an article on Hmong experience of U.S health care.

Health Policy

• The President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief is one of the many international health plans from the U.S.
• Register with Kaiser Family Foundation to receive daily international health updates.
• The Global Health Council is an umbrella organization for international health non-governmental organizations (NGOs), foundations, corporations, government agencies and academic institutions
• The Minnesota Center for Health Care Ethics works to establish heath protocol - their most recent publication addressed response plans to Avian Bird Flu.
