Stephanie McCarter is a specialist in Latin poetry. Her master's thesis was on "Horatian Poetics in Statius, Silvae 4," her doctoral dissertation on "Poetry, Philosophy, and Adaptability in Horace's Epistles 1." She is also interested in Hellenistic Greek poetry. While enrolled at the University of Virginia, she studied and traveled in Italy with the Vergilian Society and organized a successful graduate student colloquium with a catchy title: Laughing Matters: Interpreting Humor in the Ancient World.
