Students who begin Latin at the 231 (3rd-semester) level or higher have the option of taking 6 courses in Latin, 1 ancient Roman history course, 1 Classics course, and Education 349.

They must also complete all the general requirements for St. Olaf's K-12 Teaching Licensure Program.

License Requirements for a K-8 Specialty in Latin Teaching

Students who begin Latin at the 231 (3rd-semester) level or higher have the option of taking 3 courses in Latin, 1 ancient Roman history course, 1 Classics course, and Education 349.

Licensure for K-8 Latin teaching can be awarded only by an endorsement onto a full K-6, K-12, 5-12, or 9-12 license in another content area. (The K-8 specialty replaces the former "middle level specialty" in Latin.)
