2012

Julia’s Journey (screendance in process)
Short documentary experimenting with the use of the iPad as an all-in-one technology (video camera and editing station) in the creation of dance for the camera. The screendance will highlight the dance journey of a current St. Olaf College dance major.

Shawn’s Shadows (screendance work in process)
Stop motion screendance that is a reconceptualization of For the End of Time, a 2012 male trio created for the stage. Shawn's Shadows is also an opportunity for a musical collaboration, as an online call for compositions has been issued as part of the creative process.

A acreendance exploring movement, color and light, which is a reconceptualization of Impulse, a group work I choreographed for the stage in 2011-12.

A modern dance influenced 3D character animation screendance integrating texture maps using the software program Poser.

2011

Tonal Memories
Screendance conveying varied emotional tones, symbolic of varied phases of relationships, with the static space consisting of the concrete staircase and foliage serving as contrasting, yet unifying entities.
This screendance was conceived, rehearsed, shot and partially edited at the Dance for Camera Workshop with professional screendance artist, Katrina McPherson, at the University of Utah in September 2011.

Kaleido Break
An abstract reconceptualization of "Break," a group work I choreographed for the stage in 2009-10, Kaleido Break features a kaleidoscopic video wall of imagery, desaturated panels of movement vignettes, and retrograded movement.

St. Olaf Cancer Chronicles: Stories of Loss, Hope and Love
Video project documenting the experiences of 27 members of the St. Olaf College community, who have been impacted by cancer. This video was created as a companion piece for the evening length dance for the stage titled, Swing a Club: facing cancer. 2002

For Tom
This film represents the struggle involved in trying to understand a terminal diagnosis of a loved one. It is an abstract expression of love, loss, grief, and letting go, albeit begrudgingly, of my brother, Tom Roberts, who died of cancer in 2001.
