IMPORTANT  DATES:

 

Senior Dance Project Options Abbreviation Guide: The following abbreviations will be used to indicate whether or not the dates listed below pertain to one or more of the senior dance project options.

ALL: all project options

P: performance project option

CH: choreography project option

WT: written thesis project option

CO: combination project option

 

 

¬       By Fri, 9/25: Initial Committee Meeting

o      ALL: Dance Senior Seminar students should schedule and convene an initial meeting with his or her senior committee.

¬       Tue, 9/29:

o      ALL: Copies of completed and signed (by all committee members) Senior Dance Project Contracts sent to all senior dance project committee members and one given to the instructor of dance-399 (Senior Dance Seminar) during class.

o      WT, CO: 1st draft of the written portion (written thesis & combination projects) due to committee members.

¬       Mon, 10/5:

o      CH, P: 1st draft of the artist statement for choreography and performance projects due to committee members.

¬       Thurs, 10/8, 11:30-12:30 in Dittmann Studio #1:

o      CH, P, CO: Showing 1 of all senior dance choreography, performance and combination projects in process.  All Senior Dance Seminar students and faculty committee members should attend.  If it is not possible for all faculty committee members to attend, the senior student will arrange for a separate showing or provide a videotape of the showing for the faculty member.

¬       Tues, 10/13:

o      ALL: Submit decision about performance/presentation venue.

¬       Mon, 11/3:

o      CH, P: 2nd draft of the artist statement for choreography and performance projects due to committee members.

¬       Fri, 11/6, 3:45pm-5:30pm in Dittmann Studio #1

o      CH, P, CO: Showing 2 of all senior dance choreography, performance and combination projects in process.  All Senior Dance Seminar students and faculty committee members should attend.  If it is not possible for all faculty committee members to attend, the senior student will arrange for a separate showing or provide a videotape of the showing for the faculty member.  About 2/3rds of the senior project should be completed.

¬       Thurs, 11/5

o      WT, CO: 2nd draft of the written portion (written thesis & combination projects) due to committee members.

¬       Mon, 11/16:

o      CH, P: 3rd draft of the artist statement for choreography and performance projects due to committee members.

¬       Thurs, 11/19, 11:30-12:30 in Dittmann Studio #1:

o      CH, P, CO: Showing 3 of all senior dance choreography, performance and combination projects in process.  All Senior Dance Seminar students and faculty committee members should attend.  If it is not possible for all faculty committee members to attend, the senior student will arrange for a separate showing or provide a videotape of the showing for the faculty member.  The studentŐs project should be in its final stages of completion; however, the student should still be prepared to receive and consider substantive feedback on the project.

¬       Mon, 11/23:

o      WT, CO: 3rd draft of the written portion of written thesis and combination projects due to committee members.

¬       Mon, 12/7:

o      CH, P: Final draft of the artist statement for choreography and performance projects due to committee members.

o      WT, CO: Final version of the written portion of written thesis and combination projects due to committee members.

¬       Thurs, 12/10, Fri, 12/11, Sat, 12/12 at 7:30pm in Kelsey Theater:

o      CH, P: Senior Dance Concert: final presentation of choreography and performance projects. Committee members should be in attendance on one of the performance dates.

¬       Mon, 12/14 at 7pm in Dittmann Studio #1:

o      WT, CO: Public presentation of final written and combination projects as agreed upon by senior project committees.  Public presentation of written projects is encouraged but not mandatory.

¬       12/16-12/21: Final Committee Meeting:

o      ALL: Senior Dance Seminar students should schedule and convene a final meeting with his or her senior project committee during final exams week (12/16-12/21).

¬       By Thurs, 12/21:

o      ALL: The lead faculty committee member emails a summary of the final assessment comments and the final grade to the senior student and the instructor of dance-399 (Anthony Roberts / mailto:awr@stolaf.edu) by 12/21/09.
