Campus use guidelines for dance studios one, two, and three
Rules regarding the use of studio one, two and three in the Dittman building for the ten month academic year. The use of the dance studios is contingent on space availability. Dance staff and students, receive first consideration. The user agrees to follow the rules listed below.
General:
1. No street shoes allowed on any of the three studio floors.
2. User agrees to be out of the studio by the agreed time, leaving the space clean and arranged as it was found.
3. Any problems, damage or issues arising in the studios during the time of your stay must be immediately communicated to the director of conferences and events in the center for lifelong learning; Michelle Weber x3043. Emergency after hour issues may be directed to 24 hour dispatch x 3666.
4. No food allowed in the studios.
5. No liquids other than water in re-sealable plastic bottles.
6. Pianos are available in studios one and two on a pre-approved basis. Pianos may not be used as props or tables. Moving the grand piano in studio 1 for any reason must be coordinated St. Olaf representative.
7. The drums, instruments and other tools in studio three are not available except to faculty and their musicians and helpers.
8. Priority for the studio spaces is as follows. Having the space signed out does not guarantee availability.
Priority for studio space
Re: the floor.
1. No rosin or any other materials designed to change the surface of the floor may be used.
2. In the event of spill of any kind no soap or grease cutter of any kind may be used on the floor.
2.5 NO shoes allowed in studio 3 at all.
3. No tap shoes allowed on any of the floors. The studios may be used for tap only if user brings in their own surface, pre-approved by St. Olaf representative.
4. No hard-soled shoes of any kind.
5. No street shoes.
6. No ballet point shoes
7. No black jazz shoes
8. No character shoes
9. No tap shoes
10. Ballet shoes are allowed in Studio 2 only.
11. Soft-soled dance shoes may be used, provided no marring of the floor.
12. No hardware of any kind may be used to secure anything into the studio floors walls or ceiling.
13. In the event props are used in the studio carpet or like material must be secured to the bottom to avoid any potential damage to the floors. The St. Olaf representative must approve this detail.
14. Any other props materials or special effect not listed in this document must be discussed with the
St. Olaf representative prior to their use or introduction to the space.
Re: technical specifications and equipment use.
1. Sound and lighting system use are not a part of this use agreement.
2. Pre-approval of equipment use with in the rental agreement at the time of contract is necessary for the use of any equipment with in any of the three studios.
A. Technical personnel will need to be hired if technical equipment is needed.
B. A complete inventory of lighting and sound systems can be obtained from the St. Olaf representative or technical personnel.
2. Seating system in studio 1 will not be available for use during rehearsal period.
A. In the event of a pre-approved performance instruction in the use of the seating system will be provided.
3. A boom box will be available in each space; tape and CD and MP3 play back only.
