Introduction
The teacher education program at St. Olaf has a reputation as being fundamentally sound in subject matter areas and in preparing outstanding teachers. By combining requirements for a foundation in the arts, sciences and humanities, as well as a teaching major, the College seeks to develop effective teachers whose intellectual needs are met and whose abilities are developed both inside and outside the classroom. The Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs) for the Education Department program are described here. Students seeking licensure to teach are advised by faculty in the Department of Education and by faculty in each respective academic discipline (major). The teacher education program at St. Olaf is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and approved by the Minnesota Board of Teaching. Click here for information on the Minnesota Department of Education.
