Maria Kelly

Maria Kelly received her B.A. in Religion/Biblical Studies from St. Olaf College in 1985. She completed the Alternative Licensure Program through St. Cloud State University and the Anoka/Hennepin School District in 1991 and holds a current license in Secondary Social Studies Education. She earned her M.Ed. from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota in 1999. She has taught Principles of Education, Social Studies Methods, Urban Schools and Communities, Multicultural Education in Hawaii, and Perspectives on Teaching. Currently, she also teaches a First Year Writing Seminar, Teaching Outside of the Box. Previously, she served as the Academic Director for two years at Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists, where she also taught Political Science and U.S. History. Her teaching experience also includes 10 years at the middle level in Minnesota and Chicago, and at Taipei American School in Taipei, Taiwan. She is very interested in the role of the arts in education and often works with Mu Performing Arts and SteppingStone Theatre for Youth Development in St. Paul as an actor, director, and choreographer. She is the very proud mother of two wonderful young men and happily resides in NE Minneapolis.
