Mark Allister teaches a wide range of courses in literature and writing. His scholarly work is primarily in the field of environmental literature, and he has written Refiguring the Map of Sorrow: Nature Writing and Autobiography (U of Virigina P, 2001) and edited the collection of essays Eco-Man: New Perspectives on Masculinity and Nature (U of Virginia P, 2004). Mark merges personal and professional life with his interests in Men's studies and popular culture; he has written and lectured on Bruce Springsteen and Jackson Browne, Tony Hillerman and Sue Grafton.
