| The day after Paul Wellstone died what was to be a large anti-war
protest at the state capitol turned into a huge memorial gathering for all
types of minnesotans. I saw families standing next to punk activists,
elderly and young, black and white turn out to show their sorrow for the loss. |

We gathered at the Cathedral and after a few speakers proceeded to march to the capitol. |
|
This photo was taken as the march began. Over 12,000 people were present. The organizers had expected around 3,000. If you look close you can see a little kid on my shoulder holding our peace flag. |

Another, smaller protest earlier in the year in St. Paul. About 5,000 people united to protest the inpending war in Iraq. |
|
The day after the war started about 100 St. Olaf students and staff joined a couple hundred Northfield citizens to protest the war. |
|
We gathered at Bridge Square in Northfield and then marched to different points around Downtown, Although it was a rainy day we were all happy to be outside thinking about the American troops, the Iraqis and the future. |
